2015 Burgundy Vintage Dinner: Review

We kicked off 2018, with our first wine dinner of he year at Seasons, tasting the 2015s from top flight domaines such as Coche Dury, Roumier, Bizot and Arnoux Lachaux as well as a few wonderful estates from our portfolio such as Felettig, Hudelot Baillet and Lamy (full list here).

2015 was an absolute blockbuster year quite similar to that of 2005. We tasted in a semi-blind way;  with wines being tried in sets of 3.  Of course presumption led most to expect the top domaines to be the winners of the night, however to everyone’s surprise it was the rising stars that garnered the most attention. Domaine Felettig’s Chambolle Musigny, 1er Cru ‘Les Carrieres’ 2015 proved the biggest hit of the evening.  The wine showed great structure while maintaining the signature elegance of Chambolle – and was absolutely stunning. This extraordinary vintage makes his wines even more pure in fruit.

For the whites, the difference between Domaine Lamy and Domaine Coche-Dury was not as big as even we would have thought, making Domaine Lamy an incredibly smart buy. Domaine Bizot did not disappoint, and their Echezeaux remained a memorable wine for all of us, with their outstanding style easily identifiable among the others.
