They are from all Grower Champagnes, grown and bottled by the winemaker for a start to finish authentic production. So let us introduce you to our 3 chosen growers…

Chartogne Taillet

Under the direction of Alexandre Chartogne since 2006, the wines of Chartogne-Taillet – long praised, have been going from strength to strength. This can be credited to an experimental spirit, passion and attention to detail. Alexandre comes from a long line of Champagne winegrowers from both Chartogne and Taillet sides with a history that dates back from the 17th century. Alexandre, who has been working alongside Anselme Selosse, is following his father’s steps even increasing the trend towards more focused and pure wines. Among the recent innovations at this cellar in Merfy, northwest of Reims, is the use of concrete eggs for fermentation and aging.


CHARTOGNE TAILLET, St Anne NV (2013 / 2012) (35% Cha, 65% Pn)

St Anne is the classical house Champagne, offering a sensorial picture of Merfy. The typical blend is 60% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir, which produces a very racy and clean champagne, concentrated with an impressive finesse.

Located in Cramant, a Grand Cru village in Côte des Blancs, this property of 5 ha, created in 1960 by Pierre Lancelot, has been conducted since 1996 by his daughter Sylvie and her husband Michel Chauvet. With 5 hectares of Chardonnay from Grands Crus and 1er Crus in the best chalky terroirs of Cramant, Avize, Chouilly and Oger, the estate has some excellent material to work with. The vines are over 30 years old, which add a refined complexity to this exceptional base.

Lancelot Royer is one of the last Champagne estates where everything is still done by hand, from vineyard work to riddling, bottling and disgorging.


LANCELOT ROYER, Blanc de Blancs Cuvee des Chevaliers, Grand Cru NV

Lancelot-Royer’s flagship wine the Cuvée des Chevalier, is a blanc de blancs 100% Grand Cru. Robert Parker remarked “it is a beautiful Champagne laced with all sorts of dried apricots, flowers, sweet baking spices, autumn leaves, roasted nuts, light caramel and orange peel. Voluptuous and creamy on the palate.”

Cédric has only been making wine since 2000 from his newly created Roses de Jeanne estate. His philosophy: single-vineyard, single-vintage and single-grape bottling has more to do with Burgundy than with traditional Champagne winemaking, and the result is simply astonishing. The wines are made from hand-harvested fruit, crushed by foot and only the finest juice is retained. They speak for themselves, becoming some of the most sought-after in the region. The wines are
